A busy day at Franklin (2/26/19)!

Today classrooms throughout Franklin school were visited by community members who came to read to students to celebrate Read Across America Week. Team Odyssey was visited by two school board members, Dan Bailey and Christine Klug. Mr. Bailey read The Cat in the Hat Comes Back and Ms. Klug read the kid favorite, The Book with No Pictures.
Team Enterprise had a visit from the mayor who read Curious George and Pigeon wants a Hot Dog. In preparation for our upcoming civics unit students also had a great conversation about his role as mayor and issues facing the community.
What a fun experience sharing our love for learning with important members of the Franklin and West Allis community.
Today team Odyssey groups collaborated to create displays for their Extreme Weather Architects PBL unit. They will be presenting at Franklin's all school students showcase this Thursday. Students created tri-folds to share their line graphs of monthly averages (chosen city in their region), their region map, and features they included when designing their home. they will also display their home models at the showcase.
4th and 5th Grade students from Team Enterprise continued work on their 20% Projects. Henry and Adele have been researching Rube Goldberg machines and chain reactions. Today they begin to build a model of one example of a chain reaction structure. They will test out a number of different models then create their own.
Aidan has been researching hydraulics and how these systems work. Today he begin building a kit model. He will explore different features then create his own model.
Students will present their 20% Projects at our Disrict 20% Fair on April 25th.
