Wow! Team Odyssey students have not only been focusing on attributes of geometric shapes but also studying their artists. Tuesday we discussed important aspects of creating a biography for an artist: early life, family, inspiration, education, awards and achievements, medium, distinguishing characteristics, and whatever else students want to know about their artist. Students have also been exploring art from their artists. I can clearly see inspiration in these pieces but with students' own take! Mondrian, Albers, Kandinsky, and Victor Vasarely!
4th/5th Grade Geometric Artists
Painting has commenced for Enterprise and Voyager. How amazing to let students explore artistically with a purpose. Artists will be calculating the perimeter and area of 4 quadrilaterals, 2 triangles, and 1 3-D shape within the piece they create. Math and art, what a perfect harmony :)
I can't wait to introduce the formulas for area of a triangle, trapezoid, and kite!
