Last night Franklin held their 2nd all school student showcase of the year. Students from K-4-5th Grade presented the work they have been doing this quarter. Parents and families visited to talk to students about their learning. We've seen student engagement sky rocket this year as students have been given the opportunity to learn in a project focused setting.
3rd Graders studied extreme weather events in a certain region and designed a home based on the information they discovered. 4/5 Enterprise and Voyager students planned and made a meal for community members. Mrs. Gutzwiller's 1st grade class has been engaged in PBL units exploring sign language, light, and color. They created displays with different types of communication as well as a lit room for shadow puppets.
The enthusiasm and pride I saw at every turn last night was heart warming. Students are valuing and invested in their learning. They are able to actively reflect upon and discuss their work. In the past month we have truly heard students complain about snow days since they "need to get to school to work on their projects", how incredible is that?
Way to go Franklin students, families, and staff for an amazing event!
Here are a few of the pictures I took last night at this incredible event. Enjoy!
