On Wednesday we began by asking students if they had any ideas or predictions about what their new project might be based on their Tuesday launch event (see last post). A few students observed that there were destination sites related to animals involved. Others mentioned the mapping factor, while some teams thought it may be focused on coding.
We asked students to focus on the destinations that each group was assigned and what they had in common. Eventually (with guidance) students came to the conclusion that they would be planning a field trip.
Essentially collaborative groups will be responsible for designing and proposing a field trip for Team Enterprise to a panel of experts (Ms. Connors, Mr. Hengel, a PTA Member, and a School Board Member). Beyond that we did not give students many specifics. Team Enterprise collaborative groups will have a large part in guiding the criteria and expectations for their panel presentation and what needs to be considered when planning.
On Wednesday teams put their heads together to develop questions they had about the project, what we call 'Need to Know Questions". We let students know that they will have Q&A sessions with both Mrs. Connors and Heather Justham, who is a School Board Member and a field expert from First Student Bussing.
Based on the information given about the project, each team collaborated
to develop questions. What do we need to complete this project successfully? These inquiries could be specific to field trips, standards, or district regulations. As a group we generated a list that will guide our sustained inquiry and project work over the next two and a half weeks.
Media below includes groups getting their first glimpse at the new project, collaborating on Need to Know Questions, and voicing their thoughts. Stay tuned for our next steps!
