On Tuesday morning writers with Ms. Schaefer and I held a class meeting to establish our group norms for the PQP protocol/process. We discussed what norms are-how a group can establish what a particular process looks like, sounds like, and what individuals need for that routine to be successful.
After establishing our PQP feedback norms students worked on their current writing piece. 1st graders are developing a narrative around an experience they have had in West Allis. Their stories will eventually be developed as a podcast.
Students who were ready for feedback on their narratives paired up with peers to receive Praises, Questions, and Polishes that they could use to revise their writing.
Students in Team Pursuit feel ready and willing to receive and give feedback in a positive, specific, and reflective manner. I love seeing this happen with such young students. I can't wait to see how they collaborate and interact as they move into 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade!
I loved hearing "take your job seriously" coming from students in a pair. They keeping each other accountable for the tasks at hand.
