2019 West Allis-West Milwaukee District Chess Tournament

Today we held our annual District Chess tournament. This school year students have participated in Chess Clubs during their lunch, recess, or after school. They develop strategies, practice, and have the chance to interact with like-minded peers.

In the morning 32 Intermediate students from Lane, FLW, and West competed in 5 rounds of chess to determine the Champion. Congratulations to all participants and their commitment to the game.

In the afternoon 64 Elementary students from across the district had the chance to put their hard work and skills from this year's chess clubs to work. Today's event gave students the opportunity meet peers and chess enthusiasts from different schools.

We saw great displays of sportsmanship, strategy, and communication throughout the day.

It was a pleasure to see former students and have the chance too catch up with them as well!
