On 1/31 I was able to visit Team Achieve's Westward Expansion Museum. Students shared their learning through exhibits they designed and planned. I saw skits, games, slideshows, models, and more! Students were excited to share their research and new knowledge with our school and district community members.

Students in Ms. Semrad's class continued working in collaborative groups to construct their ramps. Their challenge is to create a ramp that will produce the greatest speed for their marble. They will eventually complete trials and calculate speed using the formula S=D/T. They are working on long division now and will utilize this when they complete their calculations. We also had K4/K5 visitors come see the work they were doing on ramps! Some of the younger students helped out with decorating or testing out how the ramps were functioning. Our 4th graders were great role models, they were helpful and welcoming to the younger students.

3rd Graders in Ms. Karides's class shared out their website designs today. Students created a business based off of character traits and motivations for their independent books. They thought about what skills their characters had and how those could contribute to a business. They have put a lot of work into the process, participating in ideation protocols, business web creation, business plans, giving and receiving feedback, designing logos, and finally creating a website using Google Sites. Websites included multiple pages, interactive maps, FAQs, product pages, order forms, and more. Students did a great job in their first attempt at website design! Today they presented and gave a tour of their sites and creation process. Each student that presented received feedback from their classmates. Everyone received 20+ pieces of feedback that they can use to revise their sites!

5th Grade students in my math group are being challenged to use their skills in fractions and decimals to plan a healthy meal for under 30.00 that can feed ten people. Once they had been given an overview of the project, they created need to know questions that will guide our work throughout the unit. They wondered about product prices, criteria for healthy. Next step they will start finding recipes, adjusting as needed, then putting together grocery lists/budgets.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day and a great weekend!
