Irving Weeks 2/3 and 2/10

3rd Graders worked on completing simple machine builds as well as original compound machines in Innovation Station on 2/3. We saw incredible collaboration, students reflected on the productivity that occurred with successful teamwork.

For out PBL Unit Literary Entrepreneurs, many students have moved on to creating their websites. Gianna decided to go above and beyond and create a commercial for her tutoring business. She created a storyboard, wrote the script, and enlisted friends to work as actors and videographers in her production. She directed her crew, facilitated multiple takes and set ups, and ultimately got her perfect commercial!

During innovation station on Wednesday, 4/5 students explored simple machines in a new context. We watched the music video by OK GO, "This Too Shall Pass". The band used simple machines to set up an enormous Rube Goldberg machine. Students watched the video once, then we rewatched in an attempt to identify as many simple machines as poosible using the graphic organizer provided. (The first scene the band member has red paint all over him, don't be alarmed!)
