During Innovation Station this week students were able to experience coding in an analog sense before we dive into the digital space.
Programming groups were given a course as a game to create. Their team needed to lead their designated puppy through the course utilizing coding commands such as forward, left turn, right turn, hop, and pick up bone (all available on cards). Key factors to consider included: order of commands, collaboration, and communication. While many of these students are experienced in coding and digital games, we felt before moving to advanced tech. coding they needed preparation in group work and pair/group programming.
Many teams succeeded and we'll continue to reflect on areas of strength and areas for growth! Next week we'll connect math to our coding and dive a little deeper into tech in our world!
Irving students are definitely enjoying this new Innovation Station. I think it's an inspiring space to work, collaborate, innovate, create, and explore...what's better than that?!
Have a great weekend Irving families!
