5th Graders at Jefferson are at a variety of stages in their business planning venture. Their project task was to design a business that would fit the traits and motivations of a character they chose in their independent book. They were asked to participate in a brainstorming protocol, choose one business idea, create a business web, create a formal business plan, design a logo, and build a website for the business.

This week we had a brief tutorial on Google Sites. Students were also encouraged to visit a variety of websites both local and international and note features that they liked, things they noticed, and questions they had. These notes will help them as they start to outline what their site will look like.

During workshop time I observed some students developing detail in their business plans, others thumb-nailing out logo designs, some noting features on websites, and a few making plans to create unique features such as video for their site.

Students in Ms. Deschane and Ms. Geiss's class worked diligently and are able to navigate the different steps of the project with minimal teacher direction. I'm looking forward to seeing their final website. We hope to showcase them in a website gallery!
