Jefferson 11/21-22

Thursday in Ms. Geiss's class students began creating their official business plans for the Literary Entrepreneurs PBL unit. We watched a Biz Kids Video that highlighted why a plan is important and also essential elements of a business plan. Students were given the choice to create their plan in Google Slides, Docs, Keynote, or pencil and paper. Some students did further research to find out information about competition and pricing.

In Ms. Karides's class students continued creating their business webs. Many students advanced to creating their business plans. Students focused on creating a thorough summary of their business that would interest investors or customers.

In Ms. Semrad's class students continued working on their Travel Agent project. They are creating an ideal vacation based on the interview they did with their clients (Ms. Karides's class). This week students continued to find restaurants for each meal of the day. They are recording a variety of food choices from the menu and will eventually find the average (mean) cost of an item for each meal. They will have the chance to use addition and division and learn the process for finding averages. Noah, Vienna, Stuti, and Autumn completed this project last year as a small group. They are working on a hotel design project. They are envisioning the hotel, finding the location, selecting furniture (and calculating cost), designing the pool and finding volume, creating a restaurant and menu, and developing a blue print of the hotel. Today they began thinking about what they wanted their hotel interior to look like and learned how to create a mood board.

Thursday at Jefferson was dress like your favorite book character or super hero! I loved Willa's idea, she dressed as Kate Wetherall from The Mysterious Benedict Society (a wonderful book if you're looking for one to read). I of course had to go as Hermione!
