Literary Entrepreneurs

Today students in Ms. Karides's class had the chance to share their character business plan with a partner. We encouraged students to use the PQP (Praise-Questions-Polish) model for giving feedback. Pairs had time to read one another's business plans and write down their PQPs. After that they took turns providing feedback while the receiver wrote down what would be valuable in their revisions. Students will work on editing their plans based on the feedback they received.

We finished our session today by exploring logos. We discussed what a logo is, how it serves a purpose, and ways you can incorporate your organization's brand and goals into a single image. The next step will be for students to start thumbnail sketching their own logo ideas.

This group had incredible intuition in terms of the hidden meanings within these lotos. I won't give them away because we encouraged kiddos to challenge parents and teachers to find them! I don't think the notes will be visible but see what you can see before reading the notes.

Team Achieve

Students in Team Achieve's Integer group had an assessment analysis prior to Thanksgiving Break. While there were a number of misconceptions (natural with a 6-7 gr. set of standards) we reviewed strategies, skills, and algorithms, so that everyone had a more clear understanding.

I decided that rather than doing another assessment we'd review and compete with a friendly game of jeopardy. This was an absolute blast. Healthy competition while reviewing our skills and strategies. I love seeing pairs discuss, debate, and determine final answers.

Without prompting every team shook hands and said good game. YES!
