On the day pictured below students were digging into their book to determine character traits, thinking, and motivation. endent book to focus on. They selected one main character. Students have been working on identifying character traits and motivations in the first quarter, this project will dig a little deeper into that skill. Once students feel they really know who their character is (recording traits, text evidence, and related skill) they will imagine that their character comes to life as an entrepreneur. They will need to decide what type of business that character would create based on their traits and skills. I gave the example of Hermione Granger. We know she is studious, hard-working, and confident. She would likely start a tutoring business. We imagined her with an office at Hogwarts where students could pay to receive assistance with their homework.
Once students have selected the character and their business venture they will create a business plan. Next students will design a logo for the business. Lastly students will be building a website for their character's business.

Ms. Deschane's class will also be taking part in the PBL Unit!
The following week students held small group discussions around the following three questions. They used these conversations to further get to know their characters.
1. What emotions, situations, or scenarios drive the characters’ actions?
2. If you “read between the lines” are there any hidden sides to the characters?
3. Are any of the characters conflicted (feeling more than one way)? How do you know?
