After months of hard work, students went public with their project products today. This project was centered around the Driving Question, "How can we convince families to come to our city?". Within the unit K/1 students focused on opinion writing. They had the opportunity to choose what kind of product they would like to create. Some students made commercials, others created posters, and some wrote and illustrated books. All of the products were designed to convince people to visit the city of West Allis. Throughout the unit they took a Trolly ride to tour the community, interviewed community members. They applied their writing skills as they created their posters.
Today students headed to the West Allis Farmer's market to share their hard work with community members. It was cold but they were thrilled to be there. They shared their products with market visitors that included parents, teachers, the mayor, and friendly neighbors! What a great experience for these students as they engaged in not only academic learning but also did a service for our community. Way to go Pursuit and Resilience!
